ENGLISH DRAMA COMPETITION 2014

As salaam and good day everyone...

Last Saturday, Hulu Perak district had held English Drama Competition 2014 for Perak state.. The school which had been chosen as a host was SMK Sultan Idris Shah II (SMSIS)

My school was in-charge in supervising food (food committee...hee) Weee...hooo... Alhamdulillah there were not so much work to be handle as the school's canteen had taken full responsibility to prepare the breakfast & lunch and packed the food according to the respective district..

For this year English Drama Competition, there were 10 schools that represent 10 district in Perak... SMSIS  is the representative for Hulu Perak district. The competition started at 9 am and finished around 1.30 pm... The drama that I had enjoyed watching the most was from Kuala Kangsar district.. The drama was a fresh and almost genuine idea (but due to some reasons..the school did't manage to win...*sigh)

The winner of the English Drama Competition  2014 and will represent Perak state is.....(drum roll please....*wink) Kinta Utara district.....yeah!!CONGRATULATION!!

Congratulations to all 10 schools for all their hard work, time and MONEY(kekeke) for this year English Drama Competition...

BOOKS FOR PT3 REVISION??

Assalam and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri everyone...

I'm sure that everyone already knew the official format of English PT3 right??? Well for those who still aren't aware or have vague ideas about the format you may CLICK HERE to check it out.

So, the official format of English PT3 had been out but how about the revision books?

Here I have suggestion for revision book  that can be use to prepared you (teachers & students) for the upcoming PT3. In my opinion, this revision book  from ILMU BAKTI is quite good. It is comprises of 6 Kertas Model PT3 and comes free with small booklet which contains 6 test for Speaking test and Listening test. Here I also include the pictures of front cover of the book for your convenience to find the book in bookstores..

PEMASANGAN DAN PENANDAAN PT3 - ENGLISH

Assalam and hi everyone...

Earlier this week, I had went for 2 days course of TAKLIMAT PEMASANGAN DAN PENANDAAN PT3 - ENGLISH.

During the course, teachers were exposed with how to mark the PT3 (English) for - Written test, Speaking test & Listening test. So, here is the list of Examiner Role:

ROLE OF AN EXAMINER

WRITTEN TEST (12)

i)                    PAPER 1

Your task as an examiner is to become familiar with the examination materials which include:

·         the assessment objectives

·         the question paper

·         Form 1-3 Literature Component

·         the mark scheme (section A-D)

Before you start marking, read and understand the marking procedure/scheme thoroughly.

ORAL TEST (13)

ii)                  PAPER 2 (SPEAKING TEST)

Your task as an examiner is to become familiar with the examination materials which include:

·         the assessment objectives

·         section A : the reading aloud text

·         section B : spoken interaction

·         the mark scheme

Before you award the marks, read and understand the marking procedure/scheme thoroughly.

iii)                PAPER 3 (LISTENING TEST)

Your task as an examiner is to become familiar with the examination materials which include:

·         the assessment objectives

·         the question paper

·         the mark scheme

·         a PA system

Before you start marking, read and understand the marking procedure/scheme thoroughly.

Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)

Assalam and Hi everyone...

Have you ever heard about PISA?? The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is a worldwide study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in member and non-member nations of 15-year-old school pupils' scholastic performance on mathematics, science, and reading. It was first performed in 2000 and then repeated every three years. It is done with a view to improving education policies and outcomes. Malaysia had been participating in PISA test since 2009. PISA aims at testing literacy in three competence fields: reading, mathematics, science on a 1000 point scale. Next year (2015) PISA test main focus will be Science Literacy. The questions in PISA test are HOTS questions and the texts for Reading Literacy are quite long to read (for some students). 

To be honest, I'm not really aware of this test until my school had to undergo PISA pre-test awhile ago and my name had been chosen to attend the PISA Reading Literacy Workshop recently. Well PISA Workshop really opened my mind and I decided to start thinking outside the box.

Before I went the workshop, I used to think why don't MOE just choose top school in Malaysia to sit for PISA test to make sure our result gempak. But this is how it works:

1. Population : All students age 15+
2. Sample Framework : All schools in Malaysia that have students age 15+
3. School Sample Selection : 150 schools randomly choose using Stratified Multi Stage Cluster Sampling method
4. Student Sample Selection : 35 students age 15+ randomly choose using KeyQuest application

*So each school in Malaysia will have the same probabilities to be choose to sit for PISA test next year!!

OFFICIAL SAMPLE INSTRUMENTS for PT3 by LPM

Assalam & Good Day....

Finally Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia (LP) had came out with official sample instruments for PT3 - 13 subjects (including Bahasa Tamil, Bahasa Cina, Bahasa Iban & Bahasa Kadazan).

As for English sample instrument, students are required to answer all 4 section (7 questions with total marks of 100) within 2 hours. There will be literature questions (poem&novel).

With this sample instrument, I believe teachers will be relief as some burdens were taken off from our shoulder BUT a huge responsible will follow teachers as there will be no objective questions in PT3 this year. Teachers will have to start teaching students using HOTs and our students should be exposed with this sort of question.
